A freely accessible open-air contemporary art gallery.

Open Air Contemporary Art Gallery.

Gallery Nonstrop - a narrow but open space in which ideas about art do not hit the ceiling, but happen in relation to locally specific conditions. The gallery is located in Malá Lazebnická Street, which is characterized by a very narrow plan of the medieval quarter and the jagged facades of the surrounding houses. The alley leads from the bottom of the main square to the castle area at the parish church of St. James, near a memorable mature beech tree.

For now, the gallery is defined by about a third part of the aisle, leading to the church. Focused on the presentation of contemporary art in an outdoor public space, it is a challenge for artistic projects that respond immediately to the genius loci of this place and to the open weather conditions. The Nonstrop Gallery opens the way to a discussion about public space in relation to contemporary art, in a broader understanding about the function of art in the public environment. With regular exhibitions, we want to bring new stimuli into society and stimulate new public reflection on contemporary artistic expression.

The gallery is operated by the Central School of Arts and Design Jihlava-Helenín. The curator and principal leader is Viktoria Vejtas. The main teacher is the head of the studio Object and Space Mgr.A Monika Vosyková.
