Explore the labyrinth of corridors under Masaryk Square and the historical development of Jihlava. The corridors were minted in rock in several storeys during the 14th to 16th centuries, up to a depth of 14 metres. The reason for its creation was probably economic. Buyers and craftsmen expanded existing cellars to store their goods, the deepening of which was worked by experienced miners. During the German occupation, part of the corridors served as air cover.
The greatest rarity and the mystery of the underground is the corridor, the walls of which when illuminated greenish glow. It was discovered by amateur speleologists only in 1978 at a depth of about 11 meters below the surface. Sensitive people feel the action of energy here.
Underground facilities are prepared for visitors exposures dedicated to medieval mining, mini-canzeny mining landscape and Havířský village, examples of minting and ore processing. Interesting is the exposition dealing with the mining law in Jihlava. There is also a show of ceramic finds from Jihlava in the 14th century and rocks and minerals found in the Vysočina Region.
You can visit the important historical monument of Jihlava with children and in a group. There are three sightseeing circuits. The first is itself Labyrinth of the Underground. The other are collectors, locally called as the Jihlava Metro. They serve for the distribution of utilities, and when inspecting them, you will be waiting for you to climb steel ladders. The third circuit includes Alfa Civil Defense Cover from the 70s of the last century. It includes an infirmary for the wounded, radiation meters, air filters, period bonding technology, sanitary facilities and hygiene items.
In the modern history of the Underground, it opened its doors to the public in June 1991.
