The most popular trip of all Jihlavans leads through the valley of the river Jihlava through the famous restaurant Kolnička to the picturesque ruins of Rokštejn Castle. The road leads up to a short section in Malý Beranov along the cycle path, an easy route along the river. More significant climbs await us near the finish near the ruins of Rokštejn. For the return, it is possible to choose a suitable train journey from the village of Přímělkov.
We leave from the Art Nouveau bridge under Jánský kopeček along the cycle path no.26. We pass the Jihlava wastewater treatment plant and in Helenín also the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts on the opposite bank of the river. Through the railway crossing we get to the forest section of the bike path, after which we will comfortably reach Malý Beranov. Here we are waiting for a single short section, where the route follows local roads. After less than 350 meters, we again enter the picturesque forest environment on the bike path. We pass a rock, often used by climbers to practice the necessary skills. We continue through Bradlo, the cottage area of Jeclov to the Petrovický mill, which is a popular accommodation facility. Here we will continue on smooth asphalt until Luk nad Jihlavou. This stretch of bike path is also ideal for roller skating lovers. Less than a kilometer before the destination we meet pump trackon which we can venture or we can take advantage of the rest of the river to observe the lazily flowing river. The destination of most bikers heading to Luk is the famous restaurant Kettle with boarding house Kolna. Its gastronomy is famous and it is also rightfully included on Lukáš Hejlík's Gastromap. From Luk nad Jihlavou you can take away a healthy regional souvenir — the local farm is engaged in processing in addition to milk processing Sea buckthorn and products from it. You can buy them at the farm vending machine on the square, right next to the bus stop. In Luky you can visit the local museum, the church of St. Bartholomew or very popular in the summer swimming pool.
From Luk we continue on the bike path along the river to Bítovčice. A steep climb awaits us in front of Bítovčice, but it is redeemed by a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside. We can enjoy the countryside during a long descent into the village itself and continue along the cycle path until the village of Přímělkov. We arrive at the Přímělkovský weir and continue along the red tourist route in a comfortable way to the village of Dolní Smrčná. On the way on the opposite bank of the river we can see the remains of the Přímělkovský hrad. In Dolní Smrčný we connect back to the cycle path no.26, cross over the river Jihlava and wait for a second steeper climb to Panská Lhota. From here we are already slowly descending to the destination of our trip - the ruins the mighty castle of Rokštejn, which is one of the historical gems of the Highlands.
Rokštejn Castle is located in the picturesque valley of the Brtnice River in the nature reserve of the same name. Originally there was an early Gothic castle, of which only the prismatic tower remained. In the 14th century Jan Jindřich of Rokštejn bought the castle and built a magnificent mansion with a three-storey palace with beamed ceilings, another lower palace with modern hot air heating. In a tiny tower standing in the east gate she was found largest collection of bone playing dice in Central Europe, which exemplifies the players' passion of the castle guards. At the end of the 15th century, the castle was conquered by Matthias Corvinus, was never repaired again and gradually became desolate.
You can fully explore the romantic ruin, you can have a snack in a self-service chest. After the tour we are waiting for the last climb back to Přímělkov. From here we can use for the return of #DoJihlavy journey by train or conveniently along the river back along the same route.
